2014 IEEE Early Career Award

Takako Nonaka, Thinagaran Perumal and Stefan Mozar

Congratulations to our Chapter Chair, Dr Thinagaran Perumal for his  Early Career Award! He received the awards from BoGs of IEEE Consumer Electronics Society, Dr Takako Nonaka, from Shonan Institute of Technology, Tokyo,Japan and witnessed by the Past President, Stefan Mozar. IEEE CE Early Career Award was established in 2002 by the IEEE Consumer Electronics Boards of Directors, aimed to give recognition to individuals for their contributions to the advancement of technology and innovation in the field of consumer electronics in the early stages of their careers. We are glad for his achievement and may this brings the chapter to greater heights.

2014 Summer School on Biomedical Technology

IEEE Electronic Society Malaysia Chapter has successfully conducted 3 Days Summer School on Biomedical Technology held at Centre for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research (CISIR), Universiti Teknologi Petronas. This summer school was co-organised by Centre for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research (CISIR) and fully sponsored under IEEE Consumer Electronic Society Malaysia Chapter.

A total 48 participants from 13 different universities have participated and benefited from the lectures during Summer Schools that was delivered by distinguished speakers from various countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Indonesia. This Summer School have provided a platform for young researchers working in the area of biomedical engineering to enhance their creative skills and knowledge in the field.  This event is also followed by an official dinner and certificate presentation ceremony.

2014 CESoc FYP Innovation Award (UTP)

IEEE Consumer Electronics Malaysia Chapter FYP Innovation Award in Final Year Projects related to Consumer Electronics, 2013/2014 Session

Consumer Electronics Society, Malaysia Chapter of IEEE Malaysia has awarded the IEEE CES MALAYSIA CHAPTER FYP INNOVATION AWARD to the best final year consumer electronics undergraduate student project at Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. The selection of the recipient of the award was made based on the evaluation by two CES evaluators followed by a poster and /or demo session by the students. The society presented awards to the three students in the form of certificates, which is GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE. Following three students are awarded the Award of Excellence under Consumer Electronics category:

Gold Medal:
Student Name: Goh Li Ying
Project Title: Surface Electromyography (sEMG) based Controller for Arm Exo-Skeleton

Silver Medal:
Student Name: Ng Kok Shoon
Project Title: Development of a wearable humidifier for the eyes

Bronze Medal:
Student Name: Dandy Lau Jing Hui
Project Title: Development of an activity recognition system

Winners of the Consumer Electronics Society Malaysia FYP Innovation Award will be awarded with certificate during Award ceremony to be held on 8 November, 2014 at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

IEEE Consumer Electronics Malaysia Chapter Award of Excellence in Final Year Projects related to Consumer Electronics, 2013/2014 Session

Consumer Electronics Society, Malaysia Chapter of IEEE Malaysia has awarded the IEEE CES MALAYSIA AWARD of EXCELLENCE to the best final year consumer electronics undergraduate student project at Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The selection of the recipient of the award was made based on the evaluation by two CES evaluators followed by a poster and /or demo session by the students. The society presented awards to the three students in the form of certificates, which is GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE. Following three students are awarded the Award of Excellence under Consumer Electronics category:

Gold Medal:
Student Name: Vincent Yeong Chun Kiat
Project Title: An FPGA-Based Multi-core Processor Architecture for Image Feature Extraction and Classification

Silver Medal:
Student Name: Lee Heng Keong
Project Title: Intelligent Monitoring and Control of Public Place

Bronze Medal:
Student Name: Tunku Haifaa binti Tunku Osman
Project Title: Engineering Abstract Checker

Winners of the Award of Excellence are also sponsored to be an IEEE and EDS student member for a period of 1 year by the IEEE Electron Devices Malaysia Chapter with a membership due entitlement of USD$36.
